Here is my mood board I created for my Timed Assessment partner Hayley when I was in the role of the Designer.
My Inspiration and design was based on Christina Aguilera starred in the movie "Burlesque" 2010. She is the modern Sally Bowles and I really wanted to merge them together to make a strong and contemporary face.
This was the Face Chart I designed for my partner.
This was the Face Chart given to me by Hayley when It was my turn to be the Make up Artist.
Here is one of the Final Images of my Timed Assessment
Timed Assessment Reflection
I found that my partner and I communicated really well as we had arranged to meet outside of teaching sessions quite a lot of times. She was always on time and showed she was keen in discussing my design so she could understand more of what was written and see from the face chart with the notes I had prepared. She was a very good listener and told me honestly that she thought my notes were too in depth and found them confusing in the end. However in the practice session she constructively used that time to go through my instructions step by step and asked me a lot of questions regarding the things she didn't understand. She documented all the important steps in order to achieve the correct look. She had a positive attitude towards the challenge despite she was feeling nervous. She showed good organisation skills for the day of the assessment and that she proved that she could apply solutions to problems she faced under pressure.
I have learnt that make up is more than just what we draw out onto a face chart. Communication was key to this assessment that turned out successful on both sides. Practising and more practising is the second most important as without it, everything wouldn’t have gone so smoothly as it did. The more practice the more confident we were. I found that my strengths were communicating with my partner regularly and building a good relationship between us during this whole process. My weakness was keeping track of time and in future I need to think about how to spread time out fairly in creating a certain look. I also found that i struggled applying the moustache under pressure, so that is a skill I definitely need to improve on too. Overall I think this challenge has taught me a lot and it has made me notice my weaknesses which is always good as this encourages me to improve as a designer as well as a make up artist.
